The Slocumb Company opened for business as Slocumb Realty & Auction Company on December 17, 1976 as a real estate brokerage company with auction services. On January 1, 1983 the company relocated to its current location at 131 South Main Street. On April 15, 1991 the company expanded to offer certified real estate appraisal services. In 2000 the building was enlarged to house the company and its staff to provide professional real estate, appraisal, and auction services for its customers and clients in South Georgia. The Slocumb Company was incorporated as Slocumb & Associates, Inc. in August 2004 and has continued to operate under the trade name of The Slocumb Company.
